This is because the materials that we originally mould to fit your mouth and gums precisely wear down, loosening the fit and ultimately compromising comfort and function. Subtle changes in mouth shape or body weight can also impact the fit of dentures.

The looser dentures are, the greater the risk of breakage. Movement and flexing in the jaw weakens the acrylic resin and can cause it to break.

If you’ve tried getting your dentures relined but you’re still unable to find comfort, we recommend that you consider a soft liner.

Soft liners are a medical-grade soft polymer material applied to the tissue-fitting surface of your hard denture base. With shock-absorbing properties, soft liners cushion your gums while chewing for greater comfort and a better eating experience.

We recommend soft liners for patients who have:

 

• Flat or nearly flat gum tissues
• Ridges with thin tissues over bony areas
• Chronically sore gum tissues.
